The prevalence of Alzheimer’s disease is expected to triple in the next 30 years. This will dramatically increase the likelihood that mental health clinicians will be tasked with caring for the social and emotional needs of patients and families experiencing cognitive decline.  In 2017 the Lancet Commissions declared dementia to be the “greatest global challenge for health and social care in the 21st century” (Livingston et al., 2017, p. 1).  This of course was before the 2020-2021 global pandemic, which may have outpaced this threat but has also served to exacerbate it through the compounding effects of social isolation, grief, stress physical inactivity and potential neurocognitive insults related to COVID-19.

Dr. Sherrie All, a clinical neuro-rehabilitation psychologist will guide you through a better understanding of the manifestations and prognosis of each type of dementia.  She will guide you on a tour of the human brain to better understand the physical and cognitive breakdowns that happen in the different types of dementias and how that affects symptoms and care. Read More
