CPD / CE / NBCC Hours: 1 for every module

Anxiety is one of the most common mental health diagnoses in America right now. Many view anxiety as heightened stress, but it is so much more than that.

This series helps the participant look at anxiety from a lens of curiosity instead of threat, learning that the more we understand how anxiety works and how it presents in our lives, the more we can empower ourselves to take control of it. As the participant moves through the modules, they will gain a deeper understanding of how anxiety acts to inform us of real and perceived threats. Participants will learn how to become aware of their body’s signals of threat through exploring autonomic states. Additionally, learners will gain valuable strategies that will aid in managing and lessening the anxious response.

Each module will give participants a deeper understanding of what anxiety is and how to manage it. Participants will also gain access to easy strategies and exercises to help lessen the grip that anxiety has.

TRAINING information

Module 1

Module 1: Anxiety and The Brain

Understanding anxiety is the first step in learning how to manage it. In this module, participants will gain insight into the way that anxiety presents as fight, flight, fear and fawn and learn about how anxiety impacts the body and the brain. Additionally, participants will gain a clear understanding of the difference between stress and anxiety, as well as common and uncommon signs of how anxiety presents.

  2. Understand how anxiety impacts the ability to think rationally.
  3. Understand how anxiety presents as physical symptoms.

Module 2: The Vagus Nerve and Autonomic States

The vagus nerve is the longest running nerve in our body, stemming from the base of the neck all the way down to your gut. It houses the most parasympathetic receptors responsible for calming the body. In this module, participants will learn about what the vagus nerve is and its impact on how we manage anxiety. Additionally, participants will learn easy exercises that will bring immediate relief and calm to the body.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this module, participants will:

About Monica

Monica Pitek-Fugedi is a licensed therapist, published author and founder of Whole Mind Wellness PLLC in Commerce, Michigan. She is specialized in using therapy to bring relief to people who have experienced trauma and anxiety.

Monica got a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Eastern Michigan University, before developing her specialty in anxiety and trauma treatment. After her education, Monica worked as a high-school counselor, where she noticed a gap in the delivery of mental health counseling in schools. The educational system placed more emphasis on academics, leaving a plethora of mental health issues unmet.

Having found this challenge, Monica sought ways to strike a balance. But then, in 2017, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. This was the defining moment for her. She had to draw strength from within, and show up for herself in ways she never imagined possible. Going through the process of chemotherapy, losing her hair and her strength made Monica feel like she had lost her confidence, but her spark wasn’t gone. She leaned inwards and developed a voice from the depths of her vulnerabilities. Soon, she began sharing her experience and realized that opening up about her vulnerabilities and realized that opening up about her vulnerabilities helped other people around her become more open to receiving help. There and then, Monica realized she could make deeper-reaching impact by reaching out to people empowering them to heal in the process.

Monica documented her experiences and shares hope for all in her book titled “Shade of Pink.” She has also authored two other workbooks titled “The Art of Showing Up,” and “How to Live With Anxiety.” Her books are inspired by the need to help people live anxiety-free, strategic, value-driven lives.

Monica’s goal is to help provide easy access to therapy so that people can heal and become better individuals. She is currently creating an online course on how to manage anxiety, day by day.

When she is not giving therapy to a client, she can be found writing, reading or speaking on empowering people to overcome anxiety and shame, and living an inspired life.
